What is MAX POWER In Ski Racing?

You can source out an explanation of power by relating it to physics. In it’s simplest form, it is the rate at which we do work involving both a unit of speed with a unit of force.

In the discipline of ski racing, the objective is to get from point “A” to point “B” in the fastest time possible.  As power is the rate of doing work, it’s logical then to think of it as very important to accomplishing this goal.

As ski racing take place over variable conditions in an ever- changing environment, any activity that can improve strength and speed would be a positive gain.  The focus of core strengthening and center of mass stabilization is critical in today’s ski racing technique.  Modern race skis are designed to utilize these physical qualities and race- courses are set with this in mind.

Today’s ski racers are like the football linebackers of the NFL, and conditioning for power to improve performance as integral as the helmets they wear on their head.
